Before immigrating to Canada, Kenneth (Ken) Thompson spent considerable time in the British Army. In 1946, he was conscripted
into the East Yorkshire Regt and seen duty in Singapore and Malaya. Returned to England in 1948 on release. Ken re-enlisted
1950, into the Royal Engineers. Departed for Korea in 1951 and returned back to England 1953. His next tour of duty was to
the canel zone in Egypt in 1954. After his tour finished, he returned to England on release in 1955. Ken moved to Canada and
after a stint at civic life, joined the Canadian Army (RCASC) in 1958. His Canadian service included a tour with UN and 1
Tpt Coy, Germany. In 1967 while still in Germany, Ken retired (a move he regrets to this day) and moved back to England. In
1969 he joined the Territorial Army, and in 1974 signed up with Royal Corps of Transport (was RASC) and completly retired
from the military in 1975.
Ken proudly displays his CPSM and SSM which he received in 2005.
